A Workshop by the Translation and Training Center at Hamad Bin Khalifa University
Join us to learn more about the history, definition and applications of Arabic Sign Language, as well as the different international sign languages used around the world.
Because sign language plays a key role in the inclusion of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in society and the workplace, the workshop aims to promote a culture of learning and practicing sign language within the community. It also highlights the growing demand for sign language skills locally and internationally.

Murad Al-Souss
Sign Language Interpreter
The son of two deaf parents, Murad Al-Souss is a physical education teacher, coach, and sign language interpreter at the Audio Education Complex in Qatar. He is a sign language broadcaster for beIN Sports, a collaborating interpreter with the Qatari Center for the Deaf, and a sign language instructor with the Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs.
He heads the Admissions and Membership Committee of the Arab Organization of Sign Language Interpreters (SELA), of which he is a founding member, and is a founding member of the first Jordanian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (Jusoor) and an advocate for the rights of the deaf and people with disabilities.
Murad also works as an audio describer for the blind, providing commentary at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023. He is a former Al-Wehdat SC player and a former member of Jordan’s national youth, junior, and Olympic football teams.
